New York City based Unigo is quickly becoming the go-to resource for prospective college students and parents seeking authentic information about the schools they’re considering. The Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg called Unigo “a college resource built for the age of YouTube and Facebook.” Unigo seeks to hire a senior level Software Engineer who can help us build the next generation of our systems. Acceptable candidates must be Microsoft.net experts, capable of immersing themselves in complex multi-tiered applications to deliver increased reliability, performance, scalability & functionality.
General Description
• Participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle, from design to development to deployment and on-going enhancements
• Contribute to user-interface, workflow, and algorithm design, application architecture
• Execute on roadmap including new ecommerce build-out
• Define the architectural strategy for this solution and features
• Hands on contribution as a Software Developer; Prototyping of specific concepts and functionality
• Understand and analyze the functional specification, and help shape them to address our customer needs
• Team with the development manager to cost the development activities
• Must be self directed and capable of working in a dynamic environment
Requirements
• Experience developing and operating in a startup environment
• Solid experience working in Agile and iterative methodologies.
• Strong OOD/OOP skills, and experience applying modern design patterns.
• Ability to estimate, plan, lead and execute complex technical projects
• 5+ years designing and building successful web sites using Microsoft technologies
• Experienced with C# development and .NET architecture (CLR, GC, and C# programming).
• Experience with Web Services and multi-tier distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL Server 2005-2008
• Deep technical skills in data modeling, database design
• Deep technical skills in large scale Enterprise ApplicationServer development
• Experience with Ektron CMS is a plus
• Experience with scaling systems to large audiences
• Applied analysis, design and architecture patterns.
• JavaScript, .Net, C#, XML, SOAP, REST, HTTP, AJAX
• Facebook or social integration knowledge is a plus
• iPhone or mobile device development experience is a plus
• BS or advance degree in Computer Science or Engineering
